WHY President Trump’s Section 232 tariffs on imported steel and aluminum have already created significant collateral damage for U.S. industries. American ports and steel importing companies are seeing throughput decline sharply. Meanwhile, U.S. steel-using manufacturers are encountering product price increases of 50% or more and are experiencing difficulty in obtaining the steel they need, regardless of whether they buy domestic-sourced or imported steel.
This briefing will announce the launch of a legal challenge that seeks to remedy a situation that is bad for the American economy and American workers alike. The legal action will commence Wednesday morning, with attorneys available at the press conference to describe and discuss this critically important, first-of-its-kind initiative.
About AIIS The American Institute for International Steel, representing 120 member companies, is America’s leading voice for the steel supply chain, and the only voice in Washington, D.C. for free and responsible trade in steel.

On September 6, the Department of Commerce published a 171-page interim final rule modifying the process by which the Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) will process and assess steel product exclusion requests. The new rules take effect on Tuesday, September 11.
If you have filed one of the 38,000 exclusion requests received by BIS (as of August 20), are thinking of filing, or want to know how the new review process works and might affect you, this informative and timely webinar, presented by Gary Horlick, one of the country’s top trade lawyers, is designed with you in mind.
