Become a part of Our effort to influence worldwide trade issues at every level of government.
The American Institute for International Steel, Inc. was established in April 1990 in recognition of the globalization of production, distribution and usage of steel. This membership corporation fosters trade and commerce in steel, steel products and related items. National and international issues are addressed from AIIS Washington headquarters, and local issues are handled by regions in New York, Houston, Chicago and Los Angeles. The Institute’s primary mission is to:
- Promote free trade and economic growth in steel.
- Provide a forum in which enterprises throughout the world can meet to further international trade in steel.
- Collect and disseminate accurate and reliable information to members, the public, and government agencies in an effort to build consensus on how best to function in a market-oriented world.
The Institute supports the removal of both tariff and non-tariff barriers, the elimination of trade-distorting subsidies and other programs which artificially restrict or stimulate steel production and sale. AIIS provides a forum in which parties trading with countries throughout the world can act together without the predominating interest of any one country, area or region.
